MemberHi Dermot and Eagle_Kiwi,
I came back to update you that my cam is working again when I tried it earlier this afternoon. I do not know why exactly and I’m not sure if there is a connection. The only thing I can remember was stopping Windows Firewall/ICF under Services and DISABLING it. (Before WF was set to OFF under Security Settings but set to start AUTOMATICALLY under Services.) I have also disabled other services as suggested in an online article but I forgot which, and so far my pc hasnt crashed yet. 😀 😀 Don’t know till when this will last.
Eagle_kiwi, I was able to view profile (by right clicking) only recently while trying to figure out this webcam connection. Somebody suggested to click RESET WEB SETTINGS under Programs in Internet Options of my IE (which i rarely used coz of FF). I don’t understand the connection but when I tried to right click to view a profile afterwards, it worked!
Thank you so much for your time and effort. 🙂

If You have a router and can temp turn off the hardware firewall on it you can try that.
a site Port forwarding can help with that also.
Thank you for granting me ur time.
Under device manager, the modem is listed as PCI SoftV92 Speakerphone Modem.
The rest I do not know. :crying::crying::crying:
How do i know if i have a router? (I have a feeling that i dont have one)
NAT Rule is what?
The only firewall i know is the xp firewall which is turned off coz i am using free version of zone alarm:confused:
I am still trying to digest the info from the link u gave above but… doesnt make sense to me. Too techie. :p
Part of yahoo reply is this:
However, since you are unable to connect to our webcam server on port 5100, there does appear to be some sort of firewall or proxy server which is blocking the connection to our server. In order to use webcam services, you need Outbound TCP connectivity
opened on port 5100 to send your webcam image and Inbound TCP
connectivity on port 5100 to receive an image. How do i know if i have the correct configuration for that? Where do I start?
Have mercy, I am not a techie. 🙂Thanks and more power to u.

Memberi have removed and then reinstalled YM with Voice earlier today. I CANNOT still view profiles, launch IMvironment, click on games or news at the yahoo messenger window. Now i found out that i cant view my avatar ANYMORE but my chatmate can. My audibles are lost, too. When i click on the icon, its now empty… no pictures n sounds.
My share picture in the display window is working fine i think…
And now, the YM freezes (not responding) and then closes. Maaannn, what have i done wrong???? :((
