Memberwell thats just it, it doesn’t happen with other programs. If yahoo is not started, it never happens. never. I don’t even get random shut-downs, i try to keep my system pretty clean. I am 100% positive its some conflict caused by yahoo messenger.

Memberbut actually it restarted quickly this time, once before i logged in, then again like 10 minutes after i started it. I have it running now, and its been at least 10-20 minutes without problem, but i dont know if its same or worse with this newest version. (i think its same version I had though)
Also, dont know if this is actually happening or not, but, it SEEMS like if i do nothing, or am away from my computer, it will restart quickly. Where as if i am surfing the net, typing something, or even playing solitaire, it will take a good 45 min to an hour or longer to restart. Like, i have once left a mpg video file playing and it will play through at least a couple times before it decides to restart where if it is still, nothing happening, although like word or IE or something can be open and doesnt matter, it will restart somewhere between like 5 minutes and an hour. No written time record to know if this is fact or just seems like its the case. And i dont mean it will be locked up or restarting for that long, i just mean it works fine before it suddenly, for no reason, restarts.
So far, i’ve spent about 10-15 minutes typing this though, took a phone call in the middle, and its still here, not restarted yet. But it has twice already since i reinstalled yahoo.
thanks

MemberAll recovery tab options are set to “take no action” — i know i cant quite explain what is happening, but the computer is NOT restarting, it is not shutting down, it is not going through anything like that. It is an instant off right then and there. No thinking about it, no slowing down, no shut-down proceedure started. It is instantly at the blank Bios starting screen, as if you had a split second power outage. And it really is as if the power stops because it starts over suddenly from the memory scan. If you restart your computer, it pops up the ram memory count, it doesnt scan through it again like a fresh power on. This DOES rescan the memory too, just like a power off-power on. And– it sounds terrible, almost like a star wars gun sound, very very faint mind you, but a very electric type sound in the power box/motherboard area like when you do power off, that weird sound an old crt monitor makes. Its not a physical problem either as i’ve just recently replaced my power supply with a top-o-the line one, and never had problems before or with anything other than the yahoo one.
Hope any of this extra info can help someone figure out a solution for me!!
