MemberThat is a very thoughtful question. I will try to pick from some I like and those I know to be popular on my skin and walls sites.
This one has some postwork, where I added an eagle called Let My Spirit Carry Me
Whisper has been quite popular on several wallpaper sites
If one likes a fantasy feel, Flight might appeal to someone, also with post graphic work adding a castle, dragon, and vegetion, which can’t be done in the current version of Terragen
I was pleased with Islands, a scene with the camera looking down to the scene. Arise is another.
Somewhere in Time was my first beach scene, and I labored over that for days. Making the sand where the surf had been look wet was my main goal, I didn’t quite achieve the surf look I wanted though. However, some really liked it.
Finally, if you like dramatic atmospheres, any on this page might be nice.
Thank you for such a gallant question, allowing me to indulge myself showing off my work. How very kind. 🙂

Unfortunately there isnt a lot of control in the actual creation of terrains. (Unlike, say Bryce).
However, what I do is download terrains already made from actual places having used DEM files to create the terrains.
At this site » http://www.timster.net/
You can find some excellent terrains to download. You might notice that most of them are from the American West. Also there have been people using World Machine, having made some excellent terrains as well. Ashundar, which I mentioned in an earlier post has some terrains as well » http://www.ashundar.com/list.php?c=terYou might notice that some terrains are very large and would require you to register your Terragen.

You have just touched on what I think is the most difficult part of Terragen, making surfaces. You can get some starting surfaces HERE
An idea is to download them, use them, but look to see how they are used. Disect the settings, and try new things on your own.
Here is a tutorial in PDF format » http://www.mclusky.co.uk/surfacemapguide.pdf
Explaining layers and child layers. There is another way to go using Bitmap Overlays » http://www.terranuts.com/artman/publish/article_32.shtml
These should help start you out.

I could try to make some, I suppose. My favorite part of creating Terragens is making the skies and atmospheres. Perhaps let me know what you think you need help on, perhaps I can answer them here.
In the meanwhile, I’d encourage anyone interesting in learning more about Terragens, to join the Terragen Yahoo group. (Members: 4678) They are knowledgeable there (Terragen’s creator is close to the group), and usually helpful with that knowledge.
My only tiny hesitation for posting tutes for the public, is, Terragen is slated for sometime this year to revamp the entire program, expanding what it can do. It will be a full program.
Another small item on terragen at the moment, is that I do have the paid version, and that enables me to use bigger terrains (allowing for more detail).
Lastly, thank you so much, detn8r, you made a gal quite happy with your compliment. 🙂

MemberRusted, Prejudge? You address a whole nation of peoples saying things like..
“Why do you not now give a damn?”
“your hands remain in your shallow pockets”
“Dont you care?”
“You considered the percentage of Muslims affected in the disaster and measured your contribution accordingly?”
“Christianity is dead in the USA?”
“Does 100 thousand dead mean nothing to you?”
“By your actions you will be judged”Those were your words, and you dare to accuse me to prejudge?
I merely pointed out that you had been silent and outloud wondered why.
I see now was you couldn’t log in. The judgement tone was yours in the comments you made, and are there for anyone to see.xerraire
MemberInterestingly enough, Rusted is strangely silent.
In the end, it was a lot of tragedy. Its been overwhelmingly immense and a huge shock. Now people all over the world are helping in the way that they can, and thats a lot of help.
Maybe Rusted’s silence is due to her taking her negative attitude, and has gone on to do something positive, if so, well done.

Its about the tragedy.
I really don’t know why one wants to bash a country or a government or its peoples.
Its about the TRAGEDY.EVERYONE should help. I believe in the goodness of man enough to know PEOPLE WILL help, they already are.
May the suffering be blessed by those that are willing to help, and bless them too.

MemberBasically, as an American, I don’t think it’s fair for someone from somewhere else to decide what it is I care and don’t care about. Period.
I wouldn’t presume in the least to babble what I thought Australians care about.Thats up to each individual.
xerraire
MemberWell Mr Blonde you supported what I said with figures, not that I need them to know how compassionate the average american is.
🙂
Thanks

I really resent your accusation that Americans do not care. Historically we are a very generous nation, that cannot be denied. The dollar amount you quoted is for starters, and certainly doens’t include the private donations that will surely pour in.
In that, and even so, I don’t think we need to sum it all up, patting ourselves on the back on how “well” we do, or could do, or might do, above other nations.
But if makes you feel good or better to post numbers, to make yourself and Australia feel superior, good for you.
I for one have lost a lot of sleep, will donate what I can, I keep up in many ways with the news stories, and hope to heaven that the Indian and Atlantic Oceans put in place for a way that it cannot take anyone by such surprise again! I really know where my heart and prayers are, I don’t like to be lumped in with a group that you feel doesn’t care, no matter what group you accuse.
