I’ll just add my $0.02 worth — Microsoft never promoted MSN Messenger 6.2 officially or touted any big new features. They can’t be accused of lying, since they never announced anything. The msn-int.com site is run by Microsoft (in spite of what some MS customer service reps might say in a chat), but it is not their official channel for announcing anything. It’s not intended for public consumption, even if it is publically accessible.
As for Deluxe Display Pictures, I think there is more to the story than what mess.be has described. It doesn’t make sense that the English language version of the online help for Messenger specifically mentions Deluxe Display Pictures if they hadn’t at least at one time considered putting that feature in. I suspect that it was dropped from the 6.2 release, but may show up in a future version.
It would be interesting to hear the real story behind them.
