MemberFirst off, I am aware of the messenger.yahoo.com page and I know about the web based messenger that Yahoo has available. My issue is that it uses a port other than port 80. At work we are fairly heavily firewalled and are restricted from some IM clients. I am able to get to AIM using the aimexpress.aol.de and am able to use MSN messenger via seoul.e-messenger.net/mobile/index.jsp … what I am looking for is some way to get online using Yahoo through some 3rd party like e-messenger.net
any and all responses will be tried, appreciated and replied to.
thx

KeymasterThats funny, if your work has an internet connection, then port 80 should be available, as its the standard port for web browsers.
If you have other netwrok restrictions, then your stuck. Unless you have friendly network admins you can ask.
I have a feeling they have banned all chat communications, rather than blocking port 80 or 8080, the two main ports for web browsing.
Currently, I haven’t heard of any third party web messengers, for the Yahoo! network.
Although after this thread, someone might just write one. 😎

Memberhmm, I think perhaps I could have worded that better. either way I seem to have been mis-understood. Port 80 is open, yahoo web messenger uses some other port (>1023), I forget what the port number is, but that is not important anyways…
at work I have found that ports 80, 81, 8080, 8081 and 443 are available… (hint hint, in case someone actually does want to contribute to our need for Y!webby msgr.)
here’s hoping for more responses,

MemberI am having the same problem–eMessenger works (have sent IMs to myself) for MSN Messenger but neither MSN Web Messenger nor Yahoo! Web Messenger work. I even tried Hopster but that didn’t work either (says all ports blocked).
Our Internet access is through an ICA Client and Windows Terminal Server. Are there other rules for this kind of access? Or is this common? I do not want to ask the network admin. which port to use or how to bypass the firewall (duh!).
I keep looking for the Yahoo! equivalent to eMessenger. No luck YET.
If anyone has any tips until a third-party Yahoo! webmessenger solution comes around I would be grateful.

MemberTry downloading the messenger client, and under connection settings put in Firewalls, that should redirect the messenger to use port 80, and yahoo’s notify servers.
Webcam and voice will not be able to run though.
