MemberI just install 7.0 again. I regret to install it. I had the same problem before with this version. I also have Windows 98SE. I always get the send report window on 7.0. To me the 7.0 is NOT for windows 98. To me they are playing with us. I had to unistall it and go back to the 6.2. I don’t have windows xp, so I can’t install 7.5. I will NEVER install 7.0 on windows 98 again.

MemberToday I was using 6.2 and when I try to sign on it ask me to update and unfortunately I had to update it. I download and setup. Now I hope that I will not have problem with it. I always have problem with 7.0, it crahes and I get the error:
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I never had that problem with 6.2. I’m using Windows98SE. I have try Winxp and I had problems with XP itself, so I went back to Windows98SE. I just want to know what to do if I had that error again. If I go back to 6.2 and try to sign on it probably will keep asking to update.May 9, 2006 at 1:48 pm #142238williamlee
MemberI have windows 98SE as well and 7.0 with voice messenger. I had one problem and that was the getting the voice messages to come up. I reinstalled 7.0 over the top without uninstalling and the problem went away. everything works and really do not have any problems with it at all. I do not use any add-ons just messenger by it’s self.
When I talked to a messenger tech guy he told me that uninstalling was not something that had to be done and if you reinstall over the old version even the same version on top of each other it seems to repair it’s self.
so far this has proven to work for me at least.
I did however had a problem about 6 months ago and I thought it was messenger but I later found out I had spyware on my computer that i was not able to find until I ran ad-aware in safe mode which then was no problem getting rid of once I found it. now I run anti-virus AVG and ad-aware all in safe mode and 6 months no problems.

MemberI also AVG. I don’t have spyware no ad-aware. I don’t have the voice messenger. I just have the 7.0 msn messenger. I still have 6.2 my D folder just in case. I’m still afraid the 7.0 will have that error. I don’t know what to do if the error comes up. I want to use 6.2, but I’m afraid if I would it will keep asking me to update.

Memberchances are the 6.2 will keep asking for updates. try 7.0 with voice like i have if the error comes up then try and install it over the top like I did. If the error still comes up then uninstall it and just go back to the 6.2. I would google search for a free download of ad-aware if I were you is a good program and I would run it as well as AVG in safe mode before I messed with messenger again. and it would not hurt to run scan disk and defrag your system while your in safe mode. I do not know how much you know about computers so if you need help knowing how to run the scan disk (which repairs errors on your system and defragging just let me know and i will send you a step by step on how to.
