How true you were 😉 I bought one (20″) — I love it 😀
However, I didn’t realize that half my RAM isn’t even being utilized because I’m running a 32-bit version of Vista instead of 64-bit. Wish I had known that, but oh well I guess I’ll just wait for Windows 7.
I wanted some opinions on speakers though — I’m looking at three sets, does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t want to spend too much on one if it’s similar than one cheaper.
Dell Bose Companion 3, 2.1 Stereo Audio
March 22, 2009 at 3:06 am #170587Joe BallMemberIf at all possible, I would recommend visiting a store and listening to them. Your own ears are the best judge.
Having said that, a lot of people like Bose, but all three systems are probably pretty good. And the Logitech comes with a bitchin’ remote. 🙂

The exception would be if Dell has a liberal return policy if you are not satistfied (I have no idea what their return policy is, but it doesn’t hurt to check).
I paid $1200 for my home surround speaker system (not including the amp). But I did the research and went to a listening room before making the final purchase. Needless to say, they kick ass!
March 22, 2009 at 12:37 pm #170586PhilipModeratorMan, I can’t afford that kind of moolah to splurge on speakers. I have a very humble Creative SBS370 2.1 which cost about $30 or so. But the sound is good 🙂
March 22, 2009 at 3:28 pm #170551FanaticMemberOn my computer, I have a Boston Acoustics system — two small desktop speakers and a powered subwoofer. They don’t make that particular model any more, but it’s modern counterpart is probably something like this: MM 226 Computer Speaker System – MM Series – Rich, realistic audio from any media source – Boston Acoustics – Speakers, Home Theater, Mobile Audio, Sound Systems and More
It’s a little less expensive than the ones you were looking at, but I can vouch for the sound quality of Boston Acoustics.
March 26, 2009 at 11:01 pm #170563detn8rParticipantI bought the MF0365 Creative GIGAWORKS T3 and BluRay player too. I CAN’T wait for the BluRay player!
March 27, 2009 at 6:15 pm #170588Joe BallMemberIs the Bluray player an internal drive? I’m curious to hear how that works out, and how you like the new sound system. Keep us posted, Graham!

Keep us posted, Graham! It’s internal, yes. And everyone should arrive by mid-next week. I’ll let you know how it turns out 🙂

I’m jealous of your speakers though but my $20 speakers will have to do for now.
March 28, 2009 at 8:00 am #170585PhilipModeratorNessa, you’re not alone in having cheap speakers. And what a keen eye you have!
