MemberI recently coded a quick app for AIM, and I figured here would be as good a place as any to announce it. Basically it alternates between away messages for you every few minutes or so. It’s only Mac OS X for now, but I’m working on getting a Windows version. If you’re interested:

MemberSo, 90 views and not one reply?

ParticipantThere are not many OS X users here, thus very little feedback.

MemberI think if you added a windows version you would get replys… just a thought though…

MemberGood call guys. My problem is my compiler at the moment only does for OS X (quite expensive to get the cross compatible one). An online friend, however, has graciously compiled it for me tho, so the Windows version is now available at http://homepage.mac.com/switchfoot1/products.htm
P.s. Don’t be turned off by the old screen shot, Windows 2000 is all I have on Virtual PC. Actually I have no idea what it looks like on XP or other.November 20, 2004 at 11:10 pm #105027kyuubi
Memberlooks intersting…..BTW..I ran OS X so I’ll get it on there and see what it does…

MemberThat’s cool. Btw, are there any other types of utilities people need/want with AIM (or stand alone apps)? I’m running out of ideas…..

Memberalways wanted something like this! I have a bunch of humorous generic aways, and I’ve been dying for them to be able to cycle!

MemberI thought I’d give a status report on the smiley app. Apparently the smilies are not local resource files, therefore the importing them into the app itself would take more programming knowledge than I currently have (heck, I’ve only been at this for a couple of months). The way I understand it though (from numorous smiley hosting sites) is that people just hold the files and copy and paste smiley images into their im’s. Therefore I made an app to expedite the process. It holds the pictures (dragged and dropped by the user) in rows for you to easily copy and paste one into an im window. You can check out the screenshot at http://homepage.mac.com/switchfoot1/test.htm If you think this would be helpful please reply, as this took quite awhile to make, and to finish it up wouldn’t be worth it if it was useless.

MemberWhen you people are asking for your own smilie set, you know other people wont be able to see “your” set right? You will only be able to see them, the person on the other end will see plain old smilies. But I like this idea. Looks like its coming along wel.

MemberI once made a program that did something similar to your away message program.. Although I never quite finished it for a release and I nolonger have the souce for it. I gave up on the idea once the feature was implemented into the AIM addon middle_man. Yours would be really handy for mac users who want that feature who don’t have access to addons like middle_man.
