My other computer that had Windows ME (and upgraded to XP) in my house is having a problem. My Computer or hardly any of the icons will load when I double click them. The CPU goes up to 100% and it basically freezes. This problem was happening before we upgraded to XP. We thought upgrading would fix it but it didn’t help. Can anyone please help me?
do a antivirus/adware check
We have many many times.. Norton isnt catching it.. Spybot isnt catching anything..
It would be helpful if you provide some more information about the computer itself. E.g: RAM, HDD, Processor speed, etc…
It’s likely because you upgraded it from ME. Try a reinstall, it’s a core OS problem. Unless I’m misunderstanding you and it is a video issue, in the case, reinstall the driver for your video card.
No .. read my post.. it was happening with ME too.
ME is a disaster though. I suggest you format your hard-drive and then have a fresh install of XP (Pro recommended). ME messes up a lot of stuff you can’t even think of.

Exactly, and you UPGRADED instead of a clean install.
