It’s that time again… the Academy Awards are tomorrow, and it’s time to place your vote for the Best Picture!
February 21, 2009 at 5:30 pm #173268YahooliganMemberWoo-hoo! :woot: I love these polls!
I still haven’t seen Milk or Frost/Nixon, and if I had to pick from what I’ve seen, my vote is for Slumdog Millionaire.
In case you haven’t seen them, here are the trailers for the Best Picture nominees:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons

Those people at the academy wouldn’t know a good movie even if it hit them in the face.

I started hoping it would end so I could leave!
So of the nominees, who did you vote for?
February 21, 2009 at 8:37 pm #173266imported_Ven0mMemberNone. I hate all the movies listed, haha.

Did you see any of them? All of them? If you had to pick one, which would it be?
I really wanted to try to see all of them before the awards (it’s my routine), but I still haven’t seen Frost/Nixon or Milk. I’ve heard good things about Milk, but I don’t even know anyone who’s seen Frost/Nixon.
Still, of the one’s I’ve seen, I enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire the best. It wasn’t the greatest acting necessarily, but it was the best storytelling.
BTW, reps up to Yahooligan for posting the trailers! 😉
February 21, 2009 at 10:59 pm #173267imported_Ven0mMemberNone. None of them appeal to me (and I’ve seen the trailers, they’re quite appalling and bland for my taste), nor do I have the intention to see any of them. Although, I do hope Heath Ledger gets the award for best supporting actor as the Joker. He deserves it for the role of the Joker, which, was quite scary at times. Other than that, I’m under the assumption that Hollywood writers can’t come up with anything decent anymore from all the releases in the last couple years.
February 22, 2009 at 1:48 am #173269PhilipModeratorI’ve only watched Benjamin Button, haven’t seen the other flicks yet…I’d actually hoped that Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino would be in the running, but I suppose the storyline in his movie isn’t deep or serious enough for those experts in the Academy.
February 22, 2009 at 9:41 pm #173264detn8rParticipantCan’t say that I’ve seen any of them, but there is a lot of hype over Slumdog Millionaire. So.. that’s who I voted for.
February 23, 2009 at 2:21 pm #173261FanaticMemberCongratulations to Slumdog Millionaire for practically sweeping the Oscars!
February 23, 2009 at 9:33 pm #173263GandalfMemberI was not so keen on Hugh Jackman as host. I did like the bit with Seth Rogan and James Franco. Funny!!!
