MemberYesterday I got home and my MSN notified me that someone had logged into my account from another computer. Moreover, my msn name was changed to something vulgar. So… I changed my password (to something random and alphanumeric) telling no one , yet once again I came home to find the same notification.
I already contemplated the possibility of it being a virus that just changes MSN names, but the second time my msn name was intact.
Is it possible that there is a program that allows someone to get a user’s password and access their account?

MemberI don’t think that MSN notifies anyone about others logging into anyone’s account. You use your account at your own risk.

Memberyhap2003 – The author is referring to the popup window which is displayed when you are signed into the same account at the same time.
tequila rose – There are many ways in which your account could be accessed. I would recommend the following.
Close down any unecessary applications, and run a Spyware, Adware and Virus scan. Delete anything which these programs find, then reboot your system. Let us know of the results.

MemberI would change the ” secret question” and ” secret answer” for password retrieval as well. thats the easiest way to get someones account, guess their secret answer then make a new password.
if this had been done to you, you would have found that your password had changed.actually, it is not used for retrieval, the secret q&A is to make a new password if you have lost or forgotten your old one,

MemberWell in answer to your question your best bet is to first download a programme called avast home edition. If you have a trojan or anything that collects data this will get rid of it in a flash when it does its first scan which is when the computer system boots up once you have installed the programme. If the problem still continues then you could have a programme which i can’t remember the name of it but it stores any password onto your computer and usually sends it to some a*hole who finds it pertiucularly funny to do stupid things to peoples msn names.
I no about this because I have had the same problem happen to me. If you wan’t you could always do what I do know which is make sure that it asks you to reset the pass word ever 72 days or somthing like that I think next time you change your password.
And yes msn does notify you that either your password has change etc. because like I said it happened to me. But that is what I did and since then I havn’t had anything wrong with my computer or my msn :).
This is the link to downlaod avast anyway hope it helps you 🙂
http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10375520.html?tag=lst-0-1 just click download and you’ll be on your way 🙂March 12, 2006 at 4:27 am #129871msnfreak

MemberStrange as it may sound….some people have shared the password for their email account with a significant other and this would enable them to not only retreive your password via a request, but also to delete the mail containing it before you had a chance to see it. Take the advice given previously and go even further changing all your passwords that relate to the account. Play it safe.

MemberDon’t bother changing your password on your computer, don’t bother changing the secret question etc. Use a different computer and do not sign onto your MSN Messenger at home until you have cleaned your machine of the keylogger.

I dont think it is a great statment to make to someone whom you know no circumstances. The above listed suggestions are in fact the best course of action to take.;)

Pal my Daughter had the same thing happen. One of your friends has seen you sign on. He or She knows your password, believe it , it is the only way?You should change your password to something different immediatley!
Vamose, now. ASAP!Don’t say a word to your (friends or school mates) because you will never know who did it.
We stayed silent and word got out at school.
We met with the parents of the kids family and she was cut off internet use for 6 months.
It turned out to be a real good friend of my daughters who got it over her shoulder and wrote and said terrible things to her Boy friend, and other causeing alot of tears.
It is straightend out as of now.Remember Pal change it, and let the info {come too you} via word of mouth, if someone asks a question about your name that was changed, your on your way to finding the Culpret !
The person who did this will say something right away or they won’t say anything if it is made out by talking about it as though you World is falling apart. It is against the Law to do what this person did? Wait see if he or she talks.
Like I said word will get back just don’t condem the person untill you know for sure 100%.Good Luck
God Bless.
Your Pal

I would change your user name if you are chatting about possible kids reading these. You user name does make you out to be just what it says, one inch to the south? I will leave the answer to your imagineation Dick? Do you get it, or is it to hard for you to figure. One day the internet Police might catch ya swinging in the Wrong IM setting, like fishing you no your name gives you away. They are on ya allready.
Don’t slip up. Dick.
They see your every move lets hope before you do anything to terrible change the name and try to make you more of a TARGET. LOL, LOL -
