MemberCan you add your sn to someones buddy list instead of taking it off? Pretty much, I’m asking if there is a reverse effect of the /removeme from the buddy list to a /addme or something so that you can be added to someones buddy list. Thanks!

ParticipantNo…
Why should there be? If I don’t want you added why should you be able to!
March 29, 2004 at 8:13 am #47482JmAnCoOo
MemberThere should be because people like you who have be the way you are. Ignorant. Don’t be like that…It’s okay what you want, huh? So if you want someone on your list, that’s okay, if you don’t want your name on someones list, that’s okay too, right? Why is it only what YOU want? That is why there should be a way, because not everyone is as ignorant as you and only thinks of themselves! Next time, don’t be so rude to reply to someones discussion, if you don’t have a nice way to say things, don’t say anything at all…Thank you.

MemberUuuhhh… dude… No… it’s about privacy… if you don’t want someone to have you on their list then you should be able to take yourself off… but if they don’t want you on their list, and you add them, that’s a privacy issue. They may have it set so that only people on their list can see them… maybe they don’t want you to be able to see them. And if they DON’T have it set like that, just IM them and tell them to add you to their list. Or make an aim: link that adds you to someone’s list and somehow get them to click on it, then it’s their fault for being stupid and clicking something they didn’t know what was.

“Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity!”
I am going to shove my opinions in your face because I live by freedom of speech. Lets go!
I have the RIGHT to remove your name from MY buddylist! In the same respect I have the RIGHT to BLOCK you from viewing my online status. So this would be no different than if I remove my own name from your buddylist. If I choose not to have you speak with me then what can you really do about it? I have the right to keep my buddylist “SPAM free” of annoying little trolls like yourself who might wanna clutter my buddylist when a: I’m going to block people like you and b: I don’t wanna talk to people like you and c: I’m going to just remove you anyhow and add you to my “Do not allow this person to contact me/add me list” if such a feature comes out. Yes it is about ME ME ME ME ME! My computer! My privacy! You can get your own as well! Please argue with the “ignorant” again. What makes you think I will allow for you to curtail my civil liberties and privacy? I challenge you!
– And having said it with so much emotion and drama WhiteMateria goes back into his trailer as his cast pats him on the back for a top notch performance.

Memberi think this kid had a technical question not a moral one
March 29, 2004 at 3:12 pm #47465rascat
MemberThe technical question has been answered, no. However, if you send them the link aim:addbuddy?screenname=screen+name&groupname=buddies
it will open an approval screen on their computer and they may choose to add you to their list.March 29, 2004 at 8:49 pm #47481JmAnCoOo
Member*Applause *Applause!
Someone finally understands what my point was in this whole discussion! The word TECHNICAL is correct. Thank you Defnshow and Rascat, I appreciate your understanding and open mind thoughts on this issue. If I was seeking the answers that WhiteMateria was giving me, I would have asked for a lecture from my parents, that being said, I have found out the information I needed to know, thank you guys very much and WhiteMateria, instead of trying to be morally just, try and open up your mind for the techincal issues rather than just blowing up on people who need innocent technical help. Thank you.

ParticipantJmAnCoOo: Please show more respect for other users, I completely agree with WhiteMateria that adding yourself to someones list without their permission would be a complete invasion of privacy. Your question was worded in such a way that you sounded as if you wanted to add yourself to others lists “Just to annoy them”..

How is this worded like I wanted to “Annoy” someone? Not at all. Like the others said, I wasn’t looking for a moral lecture, just a technical issue. I apologize for my conduct, but the first reply I received from WhiteMateria was worded quite rude. Don’t worry about me, I was just looking for technical help. Sorry everyone for seeking technical help, I will just have to refrain from asking questions because I am interested in things, not because I am some kid, actually, I am older than what you may think I am.
March 30, 2004 at 3:59 am #47466David
ParticipantNono! Don’t take it like that, I’m just saying be more careful in your wording so we don’t make that kind of mistake again and misinterpret your questions as something they aren’t.
March 30, 2004 at 4:13 am #47480JmAnCoOo
MemberOkay…Thank you David. Honestly, I see what you are trying to say. I’m sorry for this, and I will word my posts differently so that they cannot be misunderstood. Thanks everyone for your input.

ParticipantFrom the first reply I answered the question both technically with a simple “no” then gave you the logic behind why they don’t have this feature. Rude? Not at all – Simply short and to the point. But it was to make you think. Then you replied back with what you did and I decided to be rude back on purpose about it. It was not in rage but more or less because I choose to for fun. As I stated from the start it is my opinion and as the old saying goes…
“opinions are like a..holes, everyone has one”
Yes I did knew exactly what I was typing but I also had clear basis to back up my arguement presenting 3 different reasons, points a and b and c, that would show why that feature was never implimented from a technical standpoint based on privacy issues.
“Disorder? Confusion? Chaos? My work here is DONE!”

MemberI’ll have to agree with WM on this one… JmAnCoOo was the first to be rude, saying that white materia is ignorant, etc etc. That was completely unfounded.

ParticipantWait, how do you take yourself off somebody else’s buddy list? 😛
