I have yahoo messenger build 8.0.0.711 ( I think this is the latest) I have aliases under my main id. Lately when I add someone using the alias, it shows them the main id and adds them on the main id.
I’ve tried adding them from the messenger list and creating a message with the alias but still the same effect.
Am I doing something wrong? Can you also tell me that if you add someone under an alias, but your main id is on can they still find you even if you are not connected under on the alias?
I think if we are allowed to create an alias it shouldn’t let people know our main id
Login with your alias id and then send the message from your alias id and then add the person.But take care of this that after adding when u will be online again either with your main id or alias,the person will knew(if he/she added you) that you are online.
Majorly u have to check when you will send the message to that person check the id in right side(in drop down box of alias id’s) of your IM box that with which id you are doing chat with him.You can change the id from there before chatting statrs.
hope u will be happy with this.If you login using you primary ID and one of your alias is active, you add a buddy using your active alias, you see him in the main list is normal because the list is for your main ID buddies and your alias budies. You won’t see your buddy in the list if you turn your alias to inactive.You won’t see buddies you added using your primary ID if you login from your alias.
maybe I should explain further.. when i add someone say main id is stuck in 1st gear
Alias is Carriemeawayplz……. I want to add as carriemeawayplz.. So when I open up a message change id to carriemeawayplz.. send the invite or add , it sends back saying .. so and so has added Stuck in first gear ( carriemeawayplz) to their messenger..
I simply want it to say So and so added carriemeawaplz to their messenger.. ( not anything else ) I’m worried they are finding out the main id …
Is this possible?
As was said, if you want to Add somebody under a specific Alias you need to be Logged in as that Alias.
The pick name to pm with, is just that, you’re still logged in as your main id.
So if you want to add them or whatever, make sure you’re using your alias if you don’t want people to know your main id.
even if you are logged in with your main ID or alias either, your status is obviously available, however, they do not know your main ID. your status is online to them but stillm they dont know your main ID. if you want to send message on a group, before sending you message… the window let you choose what alias you will use. remember, if you are available with your main ID… your aliases are also available as well. but still, they dont know what is your main ID.

That’s not true. I just tried it and was able to add someone and specify the alias/profile that I wanted them to see and they did not see my main id even though I was logged in as my main id.
Rvball..you can add a person after logging with your main id under and your alias.But try to slove a problem.it is just a suggestion that try to login with alias and then add.It is not necessary.So, carrie i hope your problem may solved with so many gr8 helps by our frnds.So reply that if you have still a problem or not?
