I am wanting to add more memory to my computer. We bought a 128MB stick a while ago for our old computer. Can I take that stick out of that computer and put it in my new one?
If it’s the same clock speed and same type (DIMM, SIMM, DDR DIMM, RD RIMM), you can.:)
Thanks. Also, the old computer had a few viruses thanks to my brother. Would the viruses effect the memory stick?
Viruses wouldnt stick around in the ram… but make sure its the same speed type as what you already have… like PC2100 for example.
I’m going to be looking at that tonight. Thanks David and Sathallrin. You can delete this now if you want.

Why would we? It’s the exactly the questions which have a good answer to them that are interesting to keep. 🙂
A note about viruses being kept in the RAM, this is impossible. Whenever you turn your computer off all the data held in the RAM memory will be gone. This is also the main reason why your computer has to start up again, everytime you turn it off.
