Does BBB need revenue from ads to survive? If not, lose the ads above the forums–they’re annoying. If so, can you move them to the bottoms of the pages?

Simply put, yes. I’ve experiemented with a few different formats, and I’m trying to find the least-annoying/most-useful solution. The text ads that appear now load quickly, they don’t flash annoyingly like many typical banner ads, and they don’t popup in a new window. Personally I find them the least annoying compared to most other options, but I’m always willing to listen to other opinions.
As for putting them at the bottom of the page, it would be counter-productive (from my standpoint), as they don’t produce ANY revenue unless they are clicked.
So the question is… are they so annoying that you don’t want to visit the forums? Or are they only slightly annoying? 😉
I think if you wrapped the box around the text, it would be better. Currently with all the “dead” space surrounding the text, it’s taking up 1/4-1/5 of the page.
Thanks for the feedback, IndyTone. I’m going to be doing a minor redesign to improve site navigation and provide a more efficient use of space. I agree that it’s currently eating up a lot of screen real estate and I’m going to work to reverse that. It probably won’t happen until sometime in September unless I suddenly find some extra hours somewhere. 😉
I think we should all click a lot on the ads to raise money for BBB! (Don’t mind me I am under the influence of shugar)
