AIM 5.1 problem that is very annoying

i have been encountering a nagging problem when i try to upgrade from 4.8 to 5.1. i successfully installed the upgrade, restarted my computer, and then signed on to 5.1, but just as the buddy list comes up and the program begins to run, i receive an error message that says “AOL instant messanger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” under “more information” it says… “Error signature. AppName: aim.exe AppVer:0.0.0.0 ModName:miscui.ocm ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00001988” I have absolutely no clue what is going on here or why this won’t work. i have tried re-downloading and re-installing the file and i have tried putting it in different directories, but nothing seems to help. i am running XP and getting very pissed off, please help.
p.s.
i am not sure if this is related, but at the very end of the installation process a window pops up that says “Procedure point IdleShutdown could not be locaed in the dynamic link library idlemon.dll” so i searched for idlemon.dll and downloaded that file into my AIM95 folder, but i don’t know if that was what i needed to do, or if that is even the problem at all.
