A while back, AIM 5.5 randomly stopped working. Now, every time I sign on with any screen name, I get to the Buddy List window and the program just hangs and won’t exit unless I force it to.
I did nothing to make this happen, it just did. I tried a clean install and the problem persists. I am running Windows 2000 w/SP4 and never had a problem with AIM before. Now, I’m using Gaim instead, which works fine, but I’m just curious to what’s wrong with AIM. Does anyone have any thoughts?

To the original poster, when you did the “clean install” you removed AIM first, right? Also, do you have any addons installed?

This just happened randomly one day when I tried to log into AIM. Since a complete remove didn’t work, I’m assuming that some parts of the program were left on my machine.

Your thinking of Windows XP.. Windows XP only has SP2. Windows 2000 has SP4.
