MemberI am using AIM 5.9.6089 with Windows XP and I am having an issue with the sign on process. Recently when I try to sign on using one of my screen names, aim will go through the sign on process until it tries to open my buddylist. Instead of opening normally, the buddylist will show my groups but freeze up. AIM then dies shortly after it freezes. It only does this with one of my screen names (the rest work normally) and this screen name works normally on other computers. Also, if I am signed into AIM express, AIM will load normally. Any ideas on how to fix this?

MemberYour AIM 5.9 system could possibly be down already, so what I would do is upgrade. AIM 6.0 is supposed to be more convenient in most areas of AIM. If you really want to continue to use AIM 5.9, then you should remove 5.9 from your computer and re-download it. You should not lose any of your screen name information, for when the program is restored, you can just sign back on with your normal user name information.

Its not my account and she refuses to upgrade to 6.0 because she “doesnt like it”…we have tried re installing it but that didn’t do it…tried deleting screen name info from the computer and that didnt do it either…im going to have her install AIM 5.9.6082 and see if the same problem is there and maybe re upgrading to 6089…i just dont know what brought this on as nothing has changed with the computer recently…thanks for the suggestion…others are welcome
