I think..THINK i read this somewhere…either online or through AOL or something. Is it true that At the end of this year, AOL will stop supporting AIM 5.9? Does that mean AOL won’t offer support help if you have a problem, or that AIM 5.9 will stop working on the network, and that we’ll have to use AIM Triton or an alternative IM program..?
Well AOL never had any real “support”. People begged for email support but never got it. And because they don’t have any, BBB is extremely successful.
I know it was rumored that they might cut support for AIM 5.9 on the network. I don’t think it was ever confirmed though.
So AIM 5.9 should presumely work for some time in the future…we won’t be “forced” to upgade to AIM Triton because we can’t sign in to the network with 5.9?
Even if they did stop support it would mean that AOL would stop doing updates of the current 5.9 version. I don’t think they would make it so you could not sign in using 5.9. AOL has stopped “support” with all versions prior to 5.9, yet you can still sign into those previous versions.
They would be making a huge mistake if they stopped updating 5.9. Not everyone is a Triton fan.
AOL is just going to stop updating the 5.9 series and continue to update trition since it’s the “new” AIM.
