i noticed that when i get kicked off the net (which automatically comes back on) my aim either doesn’t come back on and/or does, but with no away message. i have aim set to automatically reconnect, so what’s the deal? it seems like i’m the only one with this problem. i’d really like for my away message to come back on, so people know where i’m at. any suggestions?
There is no way to start AIM in an away state, and when you reconnect, it’s like starting your AIM session over again (even though you didn’t exit AIM). It’s not only happening to you; it happens to everyone who sets their status to away, loses their Internet connection, and auto-reconnects. Yes, it even happens to me.
It’s really a bug in my opinion. It’s unfriendly when you really are away from your computer and AIM reconnects as if you’re active. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve returned to my computer to a huge number of open IM chat windows from people who thought I was back long before.
