AIM cloner for 5.5.3415

Use AIM+ http://www.big-o-software.com .. After you install, make sure you uncheck the IM/Chat History checkbox otherwise AIM will always crash.

Yes AIM+ does still work… but ONLY as a cloner.

FIRST, you should make a backup of your aim.exe incase something gets messed up. Browse to your aim.exe (c:program filesaim OR c:program filesaim95) and copy & paste it into a separate location…that will be your backup.

Grab http://www-physics.mps.ohio-state.edu/~prewett/hexedit/

Open up the program and browse to your aim.exe file, which should be located, by default, in one of two places- c:program filesaim OR c:program filesaim95

Once open, go up top to FIND and type this in EXACTLY…it IS case sensitive- CreateMutex

It will move to the C of CreateMutex. Now on the right side you will see the ‘C’ highlighted…click once on the ‘C’ on the right-hand side and type this out EXACTLY…it IS case sensitive- OpenProcess

You have that ‘A’ leftover at the end, and you need to remove that. When the ‘A’ is highlighted, look to the left (in the big section of the program, where there are a bunch of numbers and letters). ’41’ will be highlighted, and this corresponds directly to the ‘A’. Click once on the ‘4’ and then type out two zero’s- ’00’ and NOTHING more.

Now go up to File>save as> and overwrite the old aim.exe. You should now be able to “clone”.

Thanks Jon8RFC. That works much better. No need to make a bunch of copies of the aim.exe. I suggest you guys use Jon’s method.

Didn’t know about that but thx for pointing that out. I don’t use aim links anyway so it won’t effect me. The other method still has problems with links since links only affect the most recently opened aim.
