MemberAfter reading and posting here and reading other sites, I really dont think all the problems we’re experiencing are ours alone. The router issue, the constant disconnects, the cant log on in one name , but you can in others, having to change ports to log on and different errors from the aim service. Along with misc. others.
It seems that the majority of these problems surfaced about 2 weeks ago, with just about everyone. So i’m really starting to think that its aim.
I have had the same setup with the same versions of aim, that I always had, i’ve had the same isp and router since february, with hardly any problems at all. then 2 weeks ago all thses errors and problems start appearing.
How about the rest of you? And does anyone have any info from aim that might shed some light on this? Like maybe its them???October 29, 2004 at 12:57 am #103325gtrist4life98

If you don’t know, and you have no information to add, please don’t reply. =)

MemberThat’s about how long ago my problem came up. Does anyone know whether this is an AIM problem rather than an individual one?

MemberThere have been some serious issues lately and the odd problems of only being able to use certain screen names has happened in the past. There are some big problems with the servers that have been going on for many years that never get fixed and I suspect that continually updating the servers for AIM6 has caused additional problems.
It really is odd, because it works on some internet connections and not others, some screen names work on some connection and not others, some connections don’t work at all…the list goes on. Since there’s never been a solution on the client-side, the only thing to do is wait. It really stinks, but there’s little to no official technical support or concern for AIM, so we’re left in the dark to wait out the problem like we’ve had to do back in 2002.

ParticipantHello and welcome to BBB! This sounds more and more like server side issues. In which case, you’ll just need to wait them out – as frustrating as they are.
You may or may not have more success with AIM express since you are connecting directly into the servers from the web. If other options are giving you a hard time, I’d definitely try using it for the short term. It may get some priority over third party applications trying to connect.
Chances are, it will all come right in a few days. Let us know if it just fixes itself on of these days!
