MemberFirst off, I am running AIM 5.2.3292 with Aimutation 1.2 added on. I’ve got Bellsouth DSL and I’m plugged into a Linksys router along with one other computer.
I’ve had this problem for probably two weeks now: AIM is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. This has caused me to not receive IMs from people, and to me it seems like I’ve only been off for a second but I think to others it appears I’ve been offline longer. Everything else is fine; Yahoo Messenger works great, websites load nice and fast. Only AIM has connection problems.I think it MIGHT have started when I flashed my Linksys firmware with a non-official release (1.51) to replace a firmware that wrecked the thing. I can’t remember if my disconnecting problem started right then, though, so I haven’t ruled it out but I don’t know if it’s a problem.
I opened ports 5190-5193 on my router, as many sites have said to do, but that didn’t help. I’ve deleted Viewpoint Media Player as sites have said to do, but those sites came off as just paranoid and deleting it did nothing. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled AIM, as people told me I should try, and that did nothing either.I think the longest I’ve been online since developing this problem is 20 minutes. I think my average is 10 minutes.
So, I really need you guys’ help. I’m probably gonna flash my Linksys firmware to 1.47 since that worked fine for me, but I’m nervous after it crashed when I installed the 1.50 firmware. Other than that, is there anything I can do to fix my problem?I’m desperate, here.

Participantmy internet only worked for like 10 min at once and it was becxause of my lynksys router. I had a defective one and had to get a new one. that could be your problem. but there seems to be a solution so you dont have to get a whole new router. https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14531 go there

ParticipantWhy don’t you flash back to the current Linksys certified firmware? Or have you already?

I’m worried about messing things up again like I did when I flashed the 1.50. That caused websites to completely stop working.
Edit: Okay, I flashed back to 1.45.7 and everything seems to be working fine, so far. =)
