When I sign onto AIM I often receive hundreds of instant messages simultaneously, causing AIM to crash. Is there a way around this (other than changing my screen name)? Is there a better IM client for such activity?
change your prefrences to block all messages from people not on your buddy list. get to the prefrences window (hit F3 on your keyboard). click on privacy (on the left) and choose “allow only users on my buddylist. this way only people (screennames) you manually add to your buddy list will be able to contact you.
Unfortunately that will not be possible, since I want to receive IMs from this many people; I just need to find an alternative.
are you talking about literally receiving hundreds of instant messages at once? are you crazy? there is no way that you can answer all these messages, even if what you are saying is true (about the amount of messages).

Yes, I am literally talking about receiving hundreds of IMs right when I sign on (then it dies down a little bit). Don’t worry about what it’s for or if I can answer them. I just want to know how to avoid crashing the program.I’m thinking that AIM isn’t designed to deal with so much data from so many screen names.
Do me a favor:
1) sign onto AIM and allow it to crash
2)go to start>run and type in eventvwr and hit enter/OK.
3)On the left-hand side of the new window, click on system.
4)On the right-hand side of the window, sort by date so that the current date (9/7/2005 as of right now) is at the top.
5)Scroll horizontally to the right and under event, look to see if you have any that are 4226.Let me know 🙂
