When I sign on AIM I am on for about 2 seconds then it crashes. I have tried to re-install and everything and it still does it. I am not using any enhancers or any thing such as DeadAIM – none of that. It just says, “This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.”
Thanks
what version of aim are you using, and what operating system are you on?
You must be using AIM+ to clone your AIM.. if you are using AIM+ then delete AIM+ and then go to http://www.big-o-software.com and download it again.. and after you install it and you get to that box with the checkboxes on it. Uncheck the “IM/Chat Log History” box. and your AIM wont crash anymore.
If your not using AIM+ then I dunno whats wrong.
Sgebert, if you had read the entire post, AIMXPressMod said he wasn’t using any AIM addons.
Judging from the error message, AIMXPressMod is running Windows 98.
Have you uninstalled AIM before reinstalling? After you uninstall it, I would make sure that all AIM registry entries are deleted. Are you running AIM 5.5? If so, make sure all of the components it installs are also removed. This is definitely a program error. Have you changed any options or replaced and DLLs lately? Maybe another program installed and sets one of the DLLs AIM uses to an older version (aka DLL-hell).
AIM+ isn’t an AIM add-on anymore.. It just clones nowadays since their too cheap to come up with a way for it to work with 5.5
