MemberHello, I am new to forums and i an in great need of help on the following subject. Before i start i want everyone to know that if they have any way of helping me with my question feel free to contact my eMail or my Screen Name.
My question concerns the use of AIM History, Logging, and/or any other method of saved convorsations over AIM. My question is, are there any ways to seek out and delete these Logs? And if so how many different forms are there? I am currently using regular AIM 5.9 and if it makes any difference i am running off a Dell Windows XP Professional. My AIM has no additions on it, it is simply the origional AIM Instant messenger provided by the AIM.com website. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Remember I am not trying to record my AIM convorsations, I want to seek out and delete all forms of AIM history on my computer.

Participantunless you have an add-on installed that logs your conversations, there will be no logs of any kind. there are a few addon programs like DeadAIM that will save log files (usually with the extension .log or .txt). some add-ons allow you to specify where those logs are saved, some save them to a default location like the directory they’re installed in, or your user directory (especially on Windows XP).
but… if you dont have any add-ons installed that would log your conversations, then you won’t have any logs to delete.
(as a quick side note… the purpose of the forums is for everyone to benefit from the collective knowledge of the members, so we discourage asking for private contact in regards to answers like this)

Keymasteryour firewall, if you have one, may log all the packets sent and/or received. if you have a firewall, you may want to remove all the “saved packet logs”.
google has a tool that will search for aim conversations called Google Desktop ( http://desktop.google.com/.) you can use it to find some aim logs that you previously didn’t know about. After you are finished finding these logs you can probably just remove Google Desktop and the logs that you find. i don’t really recommend doing this because it is pretty much a waste of time and space, but if you really wish to find these logs, you can.

Participantwell, weeman… i suppose the question really comes down to: if you don’t have any aim add-ons installed, why do you think there would be logs on your computer? as i’ve said before, you wont have any logs unless you have something to do that. all the other advice given thus far is indeed helpful to an extent, but it’s all useless if you dont have anything to create those logs, meaning there would be none.
