Participantwell if you move your mouse at all, or touch the keyboard, you wont be idle anymore… you didnt mention how long you were away before coming back, etc etc… that would help kinda

Memberi have the box checked for allow users to see if i am idle n other ppl’s sn’s r gray n show that they r idle. I have it set for dim buddies after they have been idle for 5 min.

Participantactually come to think of it i dont think it’ll ever show your own screennames idle on the hosting computer… just like if you block everyone on your list, your own screennames will still show up. i’m probably not the best person to test it out myself (i’m running the latest release of AIM 5.2, on WinXP)
find out from a friend if you go idle on their computer – could be it

MemberOk, I have these same problem with two of my friends. They show online even if they are really idle. At some point it was so annoying that they ended up with an away message everytime they went to sleep.
How did they solve it?
One of them solved it by reinstalling, the other just got fixed by itself…
My advice is try reinstalling/upgrading, and, if it does not get solved, just wait for it to get fixed itself…
I know this is not a very good answer, but I just wanted to mention the fact that this is happening to other people too, and it sometimes gets solved by itself after a while.

sometimes its just nice to see how long someone’s been gone, to see if maybe they’re still around their computer or they’ve been gone for 5 days and your chances of reaching them through IM are slim to none… that’s why it matters
