Hi,
For some time now I have not been able to use AIM Triton because I cannot get it to install anymore. One install went really bad and I think I have done something to prevent it from installing again. It always freezes at 21% Total Progress and 100% Current Step. If I let it run out I will finally get this error:
Installation of a component has failed. (Error code: IS-2008)Additional information can be found online here (http://www.aol.com/support/index.adp).
I am fresh out of ideas. I have tried deleting stuff in the registry, all AIM and AOL files, downloading the installer again…everything! Can someone please help me!?!?! I am dying here.

Ya, I just did. It now gets stuck at 93% Current Step and 21% Total Progress. Any other ides?
August 16, 2006 at 2:58 am #150806PrProgramsStudiosMemberScream in agony, pull hair out? 😉 Well, there’s a link to AIM Live Help right on that page. If you haven’t done so already, give that a try. Perhaps they will be able to sort it out for you. You seem to have exhausted all possible options to get this to work, it seems; at least, I’m stumped. If you still cannot get AIM Triton to install, and you just want to chat, you can always try a third-party program, like gaim or miniaim. Triton’s not what it’s cracked up to be, but it still does have some merit. That’s a different topic though. 😎
August 16, 2006 at 4:00 am #150804DragonSlayerzMemberDid you try to clean out your harddrive? because maybe there isn’t any space for aim to install.

It says I have 68.8 gigs left. I am sure that is plenty. Thanks for the reply though. I guess I will just have to settle for using the older AIM or go back to Trillian. Thanks.

August 23, 2006 at 8:52 pm #150801Jon8RFCMemberI haven’t touched triton in a VERY long time, but later today (I need to jet right now) I’ll see if there’s a way to modify the installer and alleviate your issue…it might be something “unwanted” being installed anyways (like the aol browser, if they still include that), so if we can disable it from being installed, then that might be the solution.

August 24, 2006 at 1:06 am #150802Jon8RFCMemberSince I’m not having the issue, I can’t tell you for sure if this will fix it or not. I’ve modified two installation files that you can try using. Take out the originals and put them in a different place, then move the files I modified into the folder.
