I need some help. Everytime I try to logon to AIM I receive the following error and have to shutdown AIM:
AppName: aim.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.114 Offset: 0000b141
I am using version 4.8.2790 because I cannot stand 5.0 or above. They irritate the crap out of me. If I have to upgrade then I will but I prefer not to. So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. It will work fine for a day or two then I start having this problem again. I did a Google search and others have had the same problem and also with the other messengers like MSN. It seems to have started within the past 3-4 months. I can’t find any other info. I don’t have any viruses, trojans, worms, etc. so that’s not the problem. I can’t think of anything I’ve done to my computer that would cause this. Anyone know what’s going on?

why are you replying to everyones post as “bump”? they want answers, not your stupid comments.
i think hes doing it so that someone could see our questions that no one ever responded to. Personally, i appreciate it because i really want my question answered:p:)
Change your modem. I had this exact error, and ran myself ragged trying to fix it. I finally gave up and hooked my cable modem into the same system, and low and behold AOL Messenger started. I put a different dial-up modem into it and AOL Messenger worked. Not believing it could be the modem, I then put my old modem back into it and the dang ntdll.dll error returned. AOL Messenger must be conflicting with the modem drivers. I put the new modem back in and have not had the error since.
