MemberIn the new version of AIM, the ability to add mobile numbers was added. Now the problem is that anyone can just send messages to your phone and completely spam your cell phone!! How the **** do you block people sending messages from AIM?! And this is an especially big problem for people with services that charge you for recieving messages!! Because one person just sent me 21(I’m updating this number as I get them…) text messages at ****ing 4 AM in the morning until my memory got full. I probably have more than that, I just deleted some more messages to get space and then I got more and it got full again and I got more and it got full again…and will get the rest of my messages eventually. How much did this stupid person send?! HELP!! How do you block people from sending messages to your phone on AIM(this is not IM forwarding, this is sending directly to the phone)!!

MemberSorry to say but I am not sure if you can block them. Unless you call your cellphone provider. I don’t like this feature too much either. There is a bot on the web that people can download specifically made for send IM’s to cell phones. Call you cell phone service provider and just ask them if you can block them.

MemberMake sure that you are completely signed out of your AIM on your cellphone when you’re done using it. That’s the best way to make sure this guy isn’t able to get to your cell. If you’re not logged into it…he can’t send them to you. Also, you may want to log into AIM on the web and block this guy that way. Maybe there’s a way? Look into your cell “buddies” and blocking. I don’t use AIM all that often so I don’t have anything specific to tell you….those are just the things that I would do and check if it were happening to me. Perhaps, as Reaper suggests above, there’s something your cellphone provider can do….perhaps there’s a feature on your phone that you can use to block these people. Good Luck…. 🙂

MemberYou can add peoples cell phone numbers and send them messages. They will get the IM as a text message on their phone. You don’t even have to have an AIM screen name to be able to receive the IM’s.

MemberYeah, You can click add mobile and enter any cell phone number the send IM’s to it. The best way to not get spammed this way (they can use other methods besides just AIM’s mobile, such as by email) is to not give out your cell phone number to people you dont trust. They can’t spam you if they don’t have your number.

MemberI think AIM should get rid of this feature. Your friends could still just play a joke on you and spam your phone just to make you mad. Some cell phone service providers charge for text messages. I don’t this feature should be available in future versions.

MemberEven if AIM got rid of this feature, there are other sites on the net that allow you to do the same thing. http://www.vtext.com allows you to do it for Verizon phones, and Nextel.com for Nextel phones, and I am sure there are other’s out there as well.

MemberYou can’t use the bots that flood your phone on those sites though. I have a Nextel and the majority of my friends have Nextels. Most of them don’t know that you can send text messages through the website. So they just send them through AIM.
