Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. Usually I can search and find the answers I need, but not this time, so I hope some one can help out.
I’m looking to find what value in the registry would prevent AIM chat from occuring? The program is fully functional and does connect to the aim servers. I can see what people im me, but when I go to im them, I get a standard network message that is displayed.
I am on a network, but use my laptop in the office, out of the office and for personal use. So I’d like to be able to keep in touch with people when I’m not in the office. Microsoft Antispyware beta1 use to cure this problem and remove the registry value, but it’s out dated.
Thanks in advance guys for any help,

August 1, 2006 at 11:21 pm #149667TigerbladeParticipantyou’re sure it’s a registry problem? it may just be a file that’s no longer functional (or missing)… i don’t use AIM chat very often, so i’m not familiar with this problem; i’d suggest a fresh install of AIM (uninstall first, then reinstall) to see if that fixes the problem, then go from there.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but same result. When you im someone, instead of your message being displayed in the dialog box, you get ‘IM Administrator: You are not a registered IM User”, or something like that. So the program seems to be fine, but the network admins seems to have some value inserted so you can’t carry on a conversation.

Also found the message in the registry at:
HKEY_Current _UserSoftwareMicrosoftSearch AssistantACMru5604
It was named 000, type or REG_SZ and the data was the message I receive when I try to IM. So now what?
