ok when you edit your profile in AIM, it gives you an option to “Allow people to search for me”
i have that box UNchecked, meaning people should NOT be able to search for me, right? well apparently thats not true… tonight i just got IM’d by two people (they said they’re friends) who got bored enough to make up a name and search for it… as luck would have it, i’m the one who’s name they managed to make up…
is this just some sort of new bug in AIM that people can search for screennames even if they have that box unchecked?? or… help please i’m getting sick of this happening (its not the first time its happened)
It is possible that they found your screenname on a website, such as this one. The reason I don’t publish my contact info on here anymore is because when I do, I recieve too many stupid messages from people wanting to chat, cyber or just be annoying.
yeah thats possible for some of them, but i’ve gotten a few more even since my last post that say they searched in AIM for people with similar interests and found me… except i have those options DISABLED… so they shouldnt be able to do that… HELP??? i cant just be mean and say go away, i’m too nice of a guy for that sadly
