MemberFor some reason, I’m having problems with my AIM all of the sudden. I enclosed a screenshot. Everytime I try to go into a chatroom this happens and then AIM shuts down. It also does this on a few other occasions and my text will mess up.
It keeps saying, “Ran out Font resources for this window, new founds may not look as intended.”
Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

MemberI’ve had this problem when people use a lot of unrecognized fonts in their profiles or have very excessive ASCII images or excessive html formatting in a subprofile. The chatroom might be using an unrecognized font, and I don’t know of a fix unless you’re able to get the font file for whatever font is being used…that still might not solve the problem if AIM flat-out dislikes what is going on.

MemberI had never had this problem in the past. It just started happening recently. It doesn’t matter which chatroom I go into. There shouldn’t be any reason I’d have this problem while most people don’t.
I also tried unistalling and reinstalling and continue to have the same problem.

MemberWould you mind posting your AIM version, any plugins you’re using, and a few specific chatrooms that you can repeatedly recreate the error?
Are you modifying any AIM files, and if so, which ones with what changes?
Do you know if you’ve installed or downloaded any additional font sets on your computer?

MemberMy version of AIM is 5.9.3861. I’m not using any plugins. I’ve attempted to go to several chats including “Zapped”, “Reflection”, “SWAT”, and some random titles like “Chat Room”, “Blah”, “Ultimate Chat 2000”, ect.
Anyway, about downloading fonts, I did recently download Japanese Text Support for Windows XP, but other than that nothing. I’m pretty sure that the problem had started before then anyway.
I haven’t modified any AIM files, and considering I completely unistalled and reinstalled, you would think the problem wouldn’t be with AIM directly.

MemberIn the apparent ~20-30 seconds of my attempted “test”, I was kicked from the chatroom “SWAT” even after I referenced your screen name and your post here. I didn’t test “Reflection” because I assume I will receive the same response.
If you know the creator of those chatrooms, would you mind asking their permission to allow me to sit around and observe, then possibly send some funky fonts to see if it happens to me? I’d like to see if it will happen to me so that I can try to find a solution, but I’m not wanted there and don’t want to be a further annoyance. From now on, if I am allowed to join, I will use Jon8RFC in those chatrooms. I used one of my “for testing purposes screen name”, mentholcamp, when I was initially kicked (understandably), then rejoined with Jon8RFC and referenced your screen name without any different result.

MemberYou should be able to get into “Reflection” since no one is in there any longer.

MemberOkay, so when AIM was forced to shut down, I was able to get this to come up:

Any ideas?

MemberI can’t say I know the root of the problem, but I believe ate32.dll has to do with placements of images within AIM. Since you aren’t using any plugins and haven’t modified any files, I’m having a tough time coming up with any ideas right now.

MemberYeah. It sucks, because even uninstalling it and reinstalling it doesn’t fix the problem.
