i get the message “AOL System Msg: Your screen name (Buff Al Oh Bills) is now signed into AOL(R) Instant Messenger (TM) in 2 locations. Click here for more information.” everytime i sign on. the problem is i dont remember where the i signed on at that other location. is there anyway to kick myself off?
January 5, 2004 at 8:39 pm #86522OreoMemberThat’s funny, the same thing happened to me over the weekend. It turns out I never signed out on my cell phone and I had a bundle of messages there from buddies who thought I was still connected. Maybe you signed on with a cell and didn’t actually sign off when you thought you did??? I’m not too familiar with AIM, but maybe there’s a main page you can go to to sign yourself off?? Good luck and Happy New Year to everyone! 🙂
January 5, 2004 at 9:50 pm #86523Grim ReaperMemberused to happen to me also…but it was when i had a POS computer and it froze up a lot…if you turn your computer off without signing off of AIM it will sometimes give you that message when you sign back on…or somebody could possibly have your password for your screen name and sign on with it.
January 5, 2004 at 9:53 pm #86524t0rtleMemberI do not know of a way to sign yourself off the other location without actually being there (it may be possible though). However, check to make sure that you really are signed on in 2 locations (sign on with a different sn and see if ur other sn is on or ask a friend), because it may just be a bug in AIM. The way you sign on or something might make it think that you’ve signed on twice when you haven’t. But if you really are signed on it 2 places, I suggest trying to figure out what that other place could be.
January 5, 2004 at 11:06 pm #86525FallenOne97Memberenable IM forwarding on the screen name that is signed on in another location, then sign on in 2 locations by default AIM will sign off at all other locations and leave your IM with the little “cell phone” next to your name, wait about a minute go in and disable IM forwarding then sign on and just like magic you will be signed on at only the location your at presently 🙂

January 5, 2004 at 11:49 pm #86526glstMemberOK, I don’t have AIM on my cell. But I use it at home and at work. However, I sign off AIM and shut down my computer every night. But after being at work for about 7 hours, I got this darn message again. This happens on my work ID, my home ID but not my new 3rd ID. I have a co-worker with the same problem. I have changed my password a couple of times but this does not help. I have seen this on other forums but no one really seems to know what is causing it….
