Hi, does anyone know why does the little yellow man (aim icon) on the aim today screen appear idle for my buddy who is actually available? My buddy does not have an away message nor appears idle, I know because sometimes I’ve even chatted with this boddy, still the little icon appears idle/or offline in the aim today screen. Why is this?
you cannot trust idle time/online indicator information on AIM. there are many ways to fake your idle time with the official client (third party addons) and third party clients. the AIM network also supports Invisibility (being online while appearing offline) which means that you cannot trust the offline status of a buddy.
But this is not exactly what I am asking. I realize you can appear idle and be online. I’m asking why does the icon appear idle/offline on the aim today window, when the buddy is actually available and i know the buddy is available b/c i can be chatting with the buddy at the time the icon appears idle/offline. if the buddy was in fact invisible or away then i would either not see the budy or see the away message..anyone have any more ideas as to why this happens?
