AOL has joined the web portal crowd and launched its own IE toolbar. The AIM toolbar has those features of most other toolbars: search, popupblocking, etc.
Ironically, this was advertised on AIM Today which launches a popup the first time you visit it– unless you have an ad cookie on your system. Either way, you can expect this to be bundled with the next AIM version and pushed with the AIM for Work campaign.

June 14, 2004 at 7:08 am #78102stephesmybabyMemberGoogle toolbar is still the best 😡
June 14, 2004 at 7:33 am #78107aimplayerParticipantThe search is powerd by google it seems
Makes me think that it is a stripped down version of the google toolbar
June 14, 2004 at 2:41 pm #78093syntaxMemberI would rather use the Google Toolbar. The AIM Toolbar would be better if it allowed you to control AIM from within it. Maybe even access your buddy list in the explorer bar like yahoo messenger.
June 14, 2004 at 5:53 pm #78085Jeff HesterKeymasterOh that is cool. Looks like everyone’s releasing a toolbar. Watch trillian be next. Either way I use google and seems to do awesome for me so I’m sticking with that.
June 14, 2004 at 6:11 pm #78091ChanellothParticipantI still think google is the best toolbar out there 🙂
June 15, 2004 at 3:34 am #78095f0rbezMemberid rather use.. uh no toolbar:cool: they dont really have any useful features that my browsers dont already have. and with each company bringing a new toolbar thats almost exactly like every other one, whats the point? id especially be cautious about using any browser related plug-in by aol.
June 15, 2004 at 10:02 am #78086BrianMemberOK… I just downloaded AOL, Netscape and ICQ toolbars… I would have to say that Netscape toolbar is a lot better than AOL and ICQ toolbars. I am unable to find AOL’s Compuserve’s own toolbar….

EDIT: I didn’t realize there are two different AOL toolbars… Now AOL (not AIM) toolbar is better than Netscape’s… Probably ideal for AOL users…

June 15, 2004 at 11:47 am #78098NIKKIEMembergoogle is fine for me . the netscape one seems nice and I would use aol since I have an aol acount but nah …
June 15, 2004 at 12:33 pm #78087BrianMemberAIM toolbar doesn’t have the options (like Google has) where you could edit your toolbar but AOL and Netscape toolbars do.
June 15, 2004 at 12:52 pm #78096f0rbezMemberBrian, in your opinion is google better than all of those? Just wondering incase I do need to use one in IE.

June 15, 2004 at 2:32 pm #78103stephesmybabyMemberIf your going to get a toobar, DEFINETLY GET THE GOOGLE TOOLBAR, It’s byfar the best toolbar there is. I’m sure just about everyone on these forums would agree with me!
June 20, 2004 at 4:55 am #78092Hurricane22491MemberGoogle toolbar is the best. I don’t usually use MIE, but when I need to, I have Google on it. I personally don’t trust the AIM toolbar. They definitely have a whole lot of extra junk on it.
