Home › Forums › Archives › Instant Messaging › AIM Support › AIM Triton 0.4.7 Ad Hack ..Here it is
Goto
C:Program FilesCommon FilesAOL1121478782eeservicesimAppver0_4_7contentbl
delete the aolBuddyListAd.js or just rename if you don’t want to lose it….im pretty sure that removes it….I no longer have ads…. make sure you have it set that ads are at the top of the buddy list because if its set to the im window then it won’t work. Ok so that was simple enough eh? Aol im sure will have these kinks worked out soon enough. If that didnt work let me know andtry changing
if (wantsAd == 0)
to
if (wantsAd == 3)
Note: I installed this over my old version 0.3.19 with my previous ad hack if you do that then there are no ads until u pick one. For the sack of hacking 0.4.7 I reenabled them so that is not a factor, but I dont know what other factors over installing over it will introduce. Anyways let me know how it works out for you guys
Thank you so much, this will be a big help to everyone
Works here ty ty.
i usually minmize the window and have the taskbar icon hidden in the 5.9 of aim is there a similer way for triton?
The other method of editing the prefsContainer.box file still works and gives the option inside the preferences. Disabling the aolBuddyListAd.js file is a good quickfix for noobs that don’t want to edit files though.
I personally like using the prefsContainer.box hack because it just unlocks functionality already inside triton. Mine looks like this.
Theres also another ad option available, but it seems to have no effect. Maybe in the future or an old unused entry?
Remove the collapsed attribute so it appears like this.
I haven’t noticed any difference whether this is on or off. If someone finds that it does something let me know.
