ParticipantOk Matttren, feel better? Great.
Now calm down and rewrite your entire post in a way we can actually understand. Some specific information about what the problem is would be nice. What exactly is the stupid thing, and what MSN crap are you trying to get rid of. The clearer you are, the more likely we will be able to actually help you. 🙂March 27, 2004 at 5:20 pm #47488matttren
MemberOkay I went to sign up for a .net account, it said it would send an email to my yahoo screen name, it’s been a few days and it didn’t yet. So now i’m just trying to close it down. because it annoys me. And these “messanger service” ads keep popping out at me. So how do I close it?

MemberYou’re having two different issues here… the issue about the .net account is annoying, yes, and I have no clue why it doesn’t seem to like you, but the “messenger service” ads have nothing to do with Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger. The Messenger Service (also known as netsend) used to be a great way to communicate across networks (and still is in corporate situations), but it has also become a way for spammers to send you their crap. That’s the issue with the messenger service. You need to set up a firewall, they block Messenger Service spam.

ParticipantMattern, are you using XP? If so follow the instructions in the link to prevent that spam done through the messenger service.

MemberI don’t even want MSN on this computer, no offence I kind of think it’s annoying, though if I do obtain a .net account i’ll take a look at it, I mean all my friends are on AIM, and if I wanna see cams I use Yahoo … what is so special about MSN?

MemberMessanger Service is sounding pretty net! So all I need is someones IP address and if they have XP with the feature off, I could screw with them?
March 29, 2004 at 6:57 pm #47489shifter
ParticipantNo, they would need to have the service turned on. And you can’t do anything more than send text messages.
As for what is so “special” about MSN, why not have a look through the features here or at the official MSN Messenger site. It really comes down to personal preference, and what the majority of your friends use. If you have no contacts on MSN, why would you use it? Doesn’t make it crappy, just means your friends have bad taste in IM clients [:P].

They’re fun, sure, andI guess that’s why the newer generation of net users (mostly kids) find MSN to be the dog’s bollocks.Anyway, matttren, check out my MSN vs ICQ comparison list in this forum. You may find ICQ much more useful than something from M$! 🙂
A plus is that you can add AIM users and talk to them via the ICQ client. -
