MemberI have decided to try out the AIM webcam
It wont connect with the person im trying to though. I have disabled my firewall and it still wont go. I believe she has AIM 5.5 Thats what I have. I dont know if that matters or not though. Is there a certain port I can add to the firewall? and something she can add too?
Also..is there a way to make the webcam box bigger. The webcam speed seems fast when I tested it out on myself…but the box is so tiny to view me.
thx

MemberI can’t give a definite answer because I haven’t spent a whole lot of time with AIM webcam’ing. My experiences have been either a hit or miss. If it doesn’t work, one or both of us crash. If it does work, it’s pretty quick to connect and get going.
As for the resizing of the window, I can’t remember because I haven’t gotten webcamming to work in a long time…I’ll look into it soon though.

Windows XP has a Magnifier utility (i think the default start menu folder is programs > accessories > accessibility) that allows you to display a window magnifying whatever part of the screen your mouse is at. depending on whether you’re using the mouse a lot while you’re chatting, it might not help much, but it’s an idea. i know i’ve used it (back when i had a desktop pc) when i wanted to chat, but wanted to sit further back from the desk and couldnt make out the words on the screen. -
