MemberHello,
I currently am unable to sign on AIM.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, ridding my computer of its spyware problem, and unplugging my router.I can type in my name and password, but it just stops at “connecting..” until I hit cancel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys! đŸ™‚

MemberWell, if it makes you feel any better, you aren’t alone.. I’m having the same problem… did you by any chance just install Otsego?

MemberIf its otsego , All you need to do is go to Start>All programs>Otsego, and click on the icon in that folder, and it starts AIM up

MemberNope, ‘fraid I didn’t.
Comforting to know I’m not the only one, though. :/May 22, 2004 at 12:19 am #79341xspeedyalpha21x
Memberthat happens to me too!
i downloaded Otsego, but uninstalled it.
i try to connect, and it says
Connection Refused by proxydoes anyone know what that means?

Memberotsego connects through a proxy. you dont open aim through the default aim shortcut. you open it by otsego’s.. after opening otsego’s shortcut goto preferences>signon/off and then connection:
select “connect through proxy” and hostname: localhost … port: 8081May 22, 2004 at 12:38 am #79346stephesmybaby
MemberWell since you dont have otsego, Try on the buddy list sign on screen clicking on “Setup” Then the “Sign on/Off” Tab , Then on the bottom of that there should be a connection button, Click on that. Then a new window will open, and then click on “Auto Configure…” See if that helps.. Otherwise I Really dont know

MemberWell, I installed Otsego… and I’m opening it from the Otsego shortcut, with AIM completely exited, but I see no change whatsoever. I figured out the proxy thing a little while ago and I got my AIM to connect.. but like I mentioned.. there’s no change.. anyone know why?

Memberto open otsego, right click the taskbar AIM guy…
or click the running man next to “your screen name’s buddy list” (the top bar)May 22, 2004 at 3:35 am #79349wtfiforgotmysn
MemberNo luck, I’m afraid.
Would me having Windows 98 or a 56k modem play an important factor, do you think?
Not only do I not see a difference, but when I connect through a proxy “localhost port: 8081 socks4” I have the same problem as the original poster, it sits on connecting…
