teknofile9
Memberfirst time caller here. so…..
come home today, went to IM a friend and it just sat there like it does sometimes. Figured Id sign off and sign back in. went to connecting, then verifying, and now it just sits at number 3 and does nothing. about after 10 seconds, it goes back to the start screen. After awhile then it says ive tried logging in too much and that I have to wait. Ive uninstalled it and all that good stuff. still nothing. if there a server down or something. someone spill soda on the console board?
Any takers.

MemberIf you have a firewall, is it set to let AIM use the internet?

Memberno firewall that I know of. Never had this problem before. Actually tried logging onto the Quick Buddy, or express buddy, and that didnt even work. Said that the servers are unavailable.

MemberI have the same problem, but I figured out how to get the SN to sign on, all I have to do is hit Delete key, and it will ask if I want to delete the Screen name and all the settings. If I type the screen name and password then hit sign on it, works fine. If I sit away for more than 10 mins or try to leave an away message up it signs me off. If I sign on again it hangs on number 3 then goes back to the sign on screen. I get all the same issues and errors that teknofile9 has. If I sign on with my other SN no problem. I think I’ll try it from another PC today and see what happens. Even right now I cant sign on, so let me delete the SN and be able to get back on. I used trillian for four months because of this problem, but then trillian wouldnt sign on aim either for no reason. So I went back to AIM and same problem.

MemberI am having the same problem. I am running AIM on my Mac. I am using the latest version (4.7), but neither AIM or iChat will allow me to sign on with any of my screennames. I thought it might be a host server and port problem, but I can’t find any successful alternates. I have uninstalled and reinstalled – tried everything, but no luck. If any one has a list of servers and port numbers that work for connecting to AIM, that would be very helpful. OR if you know how to fix this problem a different way, let me know. Thanks a lot!

Membertried again today. still cant sign on with my main SN. turned the comp off while at work, and my roommates are having no problems. I do have a router. But cant think how that is it while I can sign onto other screen names. My comp or router doesnt know what I mainly use.
…………….or does it?????

MemberTheoryofThirds, for an extensive list of AIM servers, go to http://www.aimkaos.com/servers.html. I was having the connectivity issue all day yesterday and all morning today, as well. I changed my AIM host server to oscare1-mr4-sw0.conc.aol.com and was able to connect right away. YOu probably know how to do this, but in case someone else doesn’t: Go to your global PREFERENCES, then under CHATTING SERVICES, select AIM, then type in the new host server name, click APPLY, then OK – then try to connect. Good luck!

Memberdid anyone ever have a problem like this
I have never had a problem with aim until a few weeks ago, possibly after I updaterd to the latest version. Since updating the read mail functions routes me to my screename@netscape.net and not my aol screename. I do not have a netscape email or any other email. I have uninstalled aim and also aol 9,0, cleaned the registry, scandisk, defrag, adware scanned and finally reinstalled and also tried older versions and to different folders.
Any idea how to get my screename@aol.com back on the read mail function and mail alert window on aim?
