MemberI am asking this question after reading almost all the posts in this forum so please bear with me
I am sure i have pissed someone off royally because, after what i thought was an intellectual argument in a chat room, I am now blocked or disconnected from chat as soon as I log into a room
I can get my emails (well sometimes i have problems to but not significant enough). I can log into Messenger and stay on for ages. But as soon as I enter a chat room, it is almost like 2 minutes later, I am disconnected and then the account is blocked. I have repeated with differnt accounts but always the same. IThe account survives only if I do no tenter (any) chat room
I have tried spybot and deleted all the recommended intrusions
I was told Zone Alam (the free version) wuuld help. Will it ?
Any advice on this from anyone who has experienced it ?
I am prepared to buy any software that will help me get back into chat rooms again.
I can’t help but think I have been targetted after that room argument occurrence.
Is it possible that they know my ISP address and can lock me out there ? Would reporting to my ISP service provider help ?
Thanks
Winston

MemberYes, Yahoo! can enforce an IP based ban, but generally speaking if that was the case, you wouldnt even be allowed on Yahoo! Messenger.
If you have tried several different accounts, not sub profiles/aliases then it sounds to me like its an IP based problem.

ParticipantI’ve also experience something like this, however the booting software people use now-a-days is amazingly much more advanced.
Last night, of course I was in an argument with someone in a chat room, and as the case, they were loosing and the decided to boot me. OK, I though and returned, this time ignoring any IM’s from people not on my contact list. Sure enough, Yahoo crashed on me. I return again, this time I am able to click the chat button, choose the location of the room, however trying to join the room is the issue. I wasn’t able to load the chat. I’m not an avid user of Yahoo, but I am also wondering if there is a software that prevents boots.
I have used chat clients in the past, and they don’t work. I’ve had my account “locked” by them, and I just unlock it again, so this leaves me wondering.. is there ANYthing out there to prevent you from being booted? Trillian Pro perhaps?April 25, 2005 at 2:03 am #120242UnSaKreD
MemberSince the abandonment of Y! Tunnel, your best bet would be trillian and other third party clients. As far as booting goes, they are still using the same packets, there is no new innovation, that I have seen. Especially since y! tunnel isn’t being updated.
Ignoring People not on your buddy list, will just stop the API to display the apropriate screen. Your pc still gets the packets, so you can still be booted even w/ that option checked..
As far as Chat Room/Ban’s I know of a deactivate exploit, which I have informed a yahoo! admin about.
You might want to try clearing out yahoo’s log files, ie. ypager.log and yacs.log
Then try logging into chat..April 25, 2005 at 2:10 am #120239detn8r
ParticipantInteresting. OK, so the only problem here would be the account/room bans. Yahoo! truly need to get their ass crackin.

MemberI think they are getting ready to upgrade their YMSG protocol.
It would explain the webcam servers being out, and misc chat / messenger problems.April 25, 2005 at 2:34 am #120240Oreo
MemberIt will be VERY interesting to see what’s coming. It sounds like it could be a nice, big improvement. Also, the both of you might want to try the Microsoft Anti-spy or CountrSpy….they find more than just spyware…and who knows…I mean.. I’m sure you both did not just accept a file from anyone…but it’s worth a try. I have not been chatting as of late…I just kind of got sick of it…these booters are a HUGE part of it…it just shows the immaturity of the people out there (and it’s not just the teenagers…you’d be surprised at some of the crap adults do!).
Anyway, even though it’s harder to meet people, you might want to just change your security settings to their highest when you chat. One of the biggest problems in a chatroom is that you are having a realtime conversation with some one you may not know well (as many people like to lie online) so you don’t know how they will react to what you say and you cannot see their body language, so you don’t know how seriously they are taking what you are discussing. It makes things less interesting…but sometimes it is best to just stop the conversation when you see it getting out of hand like that. Some people are idiots and boot. That’s something that really won’t change. The same people who pissed you off as kids will continue to piss you off when they are adults. (ahhh life 😉 )April 25, 2005 at 4:24 pm #120245masterb
MemberI don’t think it’s a bootes problem…because i got the same problems…every nick i put into a chatroom gets loggd off after bout 2 minutes and is then banned for chat…EVERY nick! it really piss me off….and i dunno how to solve it…it MUST be a yahoo problem an dow i’m tryin to find out the number of yahoo technical support and kick their ass!
am totally mad 🙁

MemberSeems like this is happening to a lot of people including me. Did you have more than one name connected to Yahoo Messenger/Chat at the same time? Trying to figure out what is causing this..

MemberIn my case, I did not have more than one name connected to Yahoo at the same time . (Is that possible ? )
Some friends of mine think I am on a “chat ban” although I know I do not break any rules in chat or in rooms so I do not even know what this ban is about and why I got banned, if this is the case

Memberi too have the same problem seems the script kiddies have found another way to lock accounts so as the usual trick of unlocking via e mail reset no longer works ,it amazes me why yahoo don’t employ co admins to police their rooms like paltalk does it works very well in paltalk to rid the program of simple minded idiots who enjoy annoying the good users for nothing more than a few minutes of fun
i’m so sick of these teenage imbeciles and adults too especially these “GROUPS” they make in the fightrooms i guess some never mature enough from their school yard bully days ?
I was using yahlite and these idiots spent over 30 minutes sending me boots etc to get me out of the room when that didn’t work this idiot used his program to lock my acount if their so thin skinned that people get to them enough to lock users accounts then they don’t belong on chat programs
I’ve been on the net for 7 years and yahoo must be the worst ran program i’ve ever used they appear to ignore complains when you e mail there abuse centre ??
its time yahoo cleaned up their act i’m sick to death of these script kiddies and there pathetic b/s a few months back it was the freeze /lagger b/s they took months to fix it i hope they fix this problem quicker ?September 12, 2005 at 5:01 am #120248honda_humper
MemberThe same thing has happend to me i posted i think what it is could be the new spam guard they have a program that just sends multiple report as spams to the yahoo servers therefore banning us from chat cause i cant log into my cell phone either. I saw a number for yahoo reps somewhere im gonna call and give em an earful cause they are the dumb ones that caused this problem
