why hasn’t anyone mentioned the mac in here… although i’m a windows user currently, i’ve been converted to a mac lover (i’m getting a mac in a few months too!). Computers don’t need to be idiot-proof, if you use your head, they are pretty easy to use. I rarely, really see a blue screen on any of my Windows systems. The only times I’ve ever seen it was when I installed the wrong version of a driver, and when I had a back memory module.
Computers aren’t meant to think for you, and they aren’t meant to catch the user from making stupid mistakes, people that think they should do this for them are the ones that shouldn’t be allowed to use one.
My Windows systems are stable and as secure as I can make them (I won’t say windows is secure), I know what I’m doing, it’s not that hard, I can’t stand when people say that Mac’s are better because they are more stable or easier to use. Windows NT is pretty damn stable, if it’s not then you are doing something wrong.

heh… i’m NOT doing anything wrong. I don’t download, and i’m very concious of my online habits. I do windows update, norton update (i run nortons scans too every other day). just face it windows sucks, and i’m 15, don’t know about comps like you prolly do. but i’m one of the most careful ppl when it comes to comps, b/c we can’t afford to just buy a new comp all the time cuz of carelessness, so again, i’m careful. and try and take superb care of my comp. I just think its windows, and next time lose the tone “oh mighty computer guru”

I’m 15 too. I never said windows doesn’t suck, I just hate when people say that Macs are ‘easier’ to use, and that’s why they are better. Anyway dude, don’t take it personally.
mac’s suck. I mean why do they have to make an entirely diff. system
i hate it, windows is more organized. apple and its “i-gear” are just hype.i don’t think that macs are better b/c they’re easier to use. theyre more stable… and arent seceptible to viruses like windows. and windows isnt more organized…. there’s so much crap that comes with it, and you have to search forever to find something you need. your desktop is usually crowded w/ icons. macs don’t have this problem, the finder has EVERYTHING under like 5 folders… everything in alphabetical order. and the reason they use a different system is for the stability aspect, and a few other things too i’m sure. but lilnux is built off of unix. unix is actually built for stability, ms-dos isn’t. if you haven’t figured it out, unix is to macs as ms-dos is to windows. but most of us don’t even see ms-dos or unix for that matter, its all in the background. and yeah, the iGear crap does get old. but the mac’s sys. is the most powerful computer out there right now. the Power Mac G5 is the most expensive and best comp out there. and I believe that unix has been changed a bit, it’s been updated. I mean, ms-dos has been the same… with no changes for years… I think that’s the reason its so unstable compared to unix. microsoft doesn’t really work on making ms-dos more stable… I dunno why, i’m sure i’m wrong about that assumption though. ah yes… something else. while microsoft uses its THOUSANDS of computer ppl to help develope the next generation operating system, apple has had 100 DEVELOPERS for quite a while. that’s right, just 100, and they’ve still got a better program running than microsoft. call me crazy, but all the above sure makes microsoft look bad, and i’m currently using a windows comp.

You just proved my point, you think Mac’s are easier to use.
If you want to change a system setting, you go into the Control panel.
If you want to access your files, you go into Computer
If you want to access the network, you go to My Network Places.Pretty damn easy, I’m not sure what you could be ‘searching forever’ for, it’s generally logical.
I know that Linux and Mac OS is built off UNIX, I’m a Linux user myself, and I like the design, and how it is setup. but you are wrong, Windows is NOT MS-DOS. Windows 95/98/Me were build off of the MS-DOS core, not really the greatest idea. Windows NT/2000 and XP are built on Windows NT. Windows NT is incredibly stable.
Of course Windows is more susceptible Viri, why the hell would anyone write a virus for a Mac when most of the computer users use Windows?! I’m sure that viri can and have been written for Mac OS.
What comes with windows that is ‘a lot of crap’? And why do you need an icon for everything on your desktop? You can remove all the icons from your desktop if you want, it doesn’t have to be crowded if you don’t want it to be.
Oh, and lastly, ‘computer ppl’ are much different than developers.
I think we all can agree that there are differences and similarities between the Operating Systems mentioned above…
That being said, neither is better than another. Case closed.Their are advantages to a few in different situations, but that is a good thing. Macs are supposed to be better with image editing, Windows is compatible with just about everything out there (virii too), and *nix is stable and secure. This bickering is pointless…this thread is supposed to be about “amazing” computers, not about OSes.
Now will somebody pleeease post a machine that is too l33t to run Windows or Mac so we can get back on topic???
