Okay..we are down to the top five contestants now. I am surprised there isn’t a topic yet. Unless I am not looking properly. Boy, that’d be embarrassing 😮
Anyways, if you aren’t following the show, you can catch up here at the American Idol website
Well, American Idol, or AI, is in its fifth season now and I must say it is the best season the show has had yet! All the contestants have a considerable amount of talent! So, who else out there is watching AI as religiously as I am? Who else out there can’t wait for Tuesday/Wednesday nights? Who are your favorites? Etc etc…
Personally, I am a BIG Taylor Hicks fan, as you may have noticed from my various avatars I have had up for the past few weeks (and my current one)! WHOO! SOUL PATROL! WHOO! Hee. I love his soulful sound and fun attitude.
So come on out Idol fans..even if you aren’t American! :p
I’d love to discuss the show with y’all! :woot:April 30, 2006 at 3:19 pm #143398detn8rParticipantI haven’t really payed much attention, because I don’t have much time at nights to watch, but I do remember the auditions. And that fat chick who called on Paula was friggen hilarious.
April 30, 2006 at 4:03 pm #143397Jeff HesterKeymasterI’m not a huge American Idol fan, but it’s hard to turn on the TV and not bump into it once in a while. You can bet on the winner in Vegas. Currently Chris is the favorite to win, and I have to agree.
April 30, 2006 at 5:17 pm #143405sarahtownyMemberSarah does a cringe about Simon the uk judge, oh he can be sooo mean on the uk version, I am sure he is the same on the american one. Boy are his trousers to high or what! haha But one of my friends works for him, and said he is actually really nice, mmh not sure about that but will take her word for it….:0)
April 30, 2006 at 6:43 pm #143401xerraireMemberI was sorry to see Bucky, Kellie and Ace go.
This is my first year watching it, but I am enjoying a lot of talent so far.
My favorite is Chris.
I frankly find that Hicks has limited range, but on those that he does well on, he can sound good. “Country Roads, Take me Home” for example, was no stretch.
Since this is my first year, I have watched with interest, along with my veteran idol watcher children, they keep me up to date with how things work.
On Simon, I find myself agreeing with him, but not his delivery of it. I couldn’t talk that way to people.
He is kinda a study though, I will admit that.
🙂May 1, 2006 at 4:50 am #143403Dr KimbleParticipantHee. Yeah, Simon is quite a character. I usualy agree with him, but sometimes his “jokes” just don’t come off right. I sometimes think he is saying mean things just because he is now expected to be “the mean one.”
Gambling are we Jeff? Interesting…so that’s where he get’s all the money for the Big Blue Yacht.
:p
May 1, 2006 at 1:04 pm #143399detn8rParticipant“I’m sorry but you look like the Incredible Hulk’s wife” LMFAO — he might be rude, but he’s damn hilarious!
May 1, 2006 at 3:39 pm #143402xerraireMemberOh gee, when (and to who) did he say that? I must of missed that one!
May 1, 2006 at 4:24 pm #143400detn8rParticipantheh… a really (really) flamboyant gay guy came up. Long hair dyed green, and yeah, he couldn’t sing for $#&^, so Simon took the chance to tell him how he felt 😀
lmao, I even found an article on it :X

Quote:Reality TV Magazine: Do you think that Simon Cowell’s comment that a contestant looked like the Incredible Hulk’s wife was offensive to superheroes?Joe Quesada: No way, did you see the rack on that guy?!?
HAHAHHAHAHAH *tear*
May 1, 2006 at 5:03 pm #143406sarahtownyMemberhey I found some quotes of his, some of them so funny! Would just love to have his nerve 😀
Here goes:-
To Idol contestantsDid you really believe you could become the American Idol? Well, then, you’re deaf.
I never want to hear that song again. I cannot stand it. I’m allergic to it.
I think you’re going to be a very successful model. And it’s best to be great at something rather than not so good at something.
I think you just booked your plane ticket home.
If your lifeguard duties were as good as your singing, a lot of people would be drowning.
Shave off your beard and wear a dress. You would be a great female impersonator.
This is a singing competition, not a dancing competition!
Why are you having a normal conversation with him? This is a dairy farmer dressed as a woman.
You are a saucy little thing aren’t you?
You’re useless, I’m bored – yes or no?
You’ve got quite a good voice, the problem I have is this looks to me like 10 years ago.
You have just invented a new form of torture.
You singing is like ordering a ferocious guard dog for your home and getting delivered a poodle in a leather jacket instead.
You sung like you were on a dentist’s chair.
May 1, 2006 at 5:23 pm #143409larrygmanMemberNever Liked that Limey cant stand him or his show!!!!!!!
May 1, 2006 at 5:38 pm #143410williamleeMemberI honestly feel sorry for Simon – clear sign of not getting enough attention as a child to feel he has to behave with such poor manners to get anyone to pay attention to him now. would love to see just once someone tell him to come up and show them how it is done. But then again who would really watch if he was polite. I think many tune in to watch simon. makes me wonder if he was the class clown in school.

Some of those others were funny though. His jokes are harsh, but more lighthearted during the audition rounds, but on the live shows they just come off as rude and a little off to me. He shouldn’t be giving the finalists crude insults, but constructive critism, they are good enough to get that far, insults won’t help them, only hurt them. I don’t think he should baby them, but some of the tings he says…
Lol..Sarah “Limey” means Brit…it originated from sailing, back in the day British sailors would eat limes to ward off scurvy. WHOO! Go Food Science! :p
