Animating an AIM screen name?

does anyone know how to make your screen name animate on other peoples buddy list on v5.5?

This is useless feature now, because AIM server will ban you after several screen name animations.
You really want it? Try to find it with google. Some of old programs are still working with AIM 5.5.

Are you sure they will ban you or is this just a assumption?

when I use mine they don’t ban me or anything they just simply stop allowing the program to keep changing it after about 10 or 15 movements in a minute or something. After 10 more minutes you can change it back… it probably works similiar to the rate limit feature

Sorry, my mistake. I’ve said “ban”, but really AIM server disallows you to format screen name for short time. And animation became useless – you can make only several screen name formattings and must wait some minutes to continue. I think, this is not interesting.

the way these animations work is that they reformat your screenname every so often. this involves sending information to AIM servers and just like almost everything else now AIM has added a rate limit.
