Yeah so, Sami's moving. Or rather, moved. Or in the process. I don't know, one of the three since most of my things are locked away in Rochester still.
Point being that I've moved up to the Twin Cities (Minneapolis to be specific) and am rather busy with the basics of getting used to a big metro city (with so much to do, and get used to, and things to see and options, it's insane! I feel like I've been cheated my whole life, yikes), as well as finding a job and getting used to that situation.
So…I may be a bit inactive (moreso than usual, HAH) if you haven't noticed already, that is. I'm still trying to keep on task and around, but with the strange hours and the stranger area and new stressors, I'm a bit erratic. So please bare with me here.
And who knows *laughs* Once I find the time, I may actually even get a new [Hometown] written up since we haven't had a new [Postcard] or [Hometown] in a long time. Heavens Forbid! *le gasp* Heheheh.
Kitten in the Big City. (Right down the road from the Mall of America. Dear sweet mother of consumerism!) Let's hope I don't get run over by a truck or something *Eep*August 11, 2006 at 8:39 pm #150551MrEggsaladMember
Heh, sounds like it will be pretty interesting! Good luck to ya in all this! 🙂August 11, 2006 at 9:57 pm #150547OreoMember
YAY!!!!!! I think this is JUST the move you needed. It is always good to live in a city…at least of a little while in your life. (Personally, I would never move back to the “city” but I would NEVER take away the experience I had when I lived in the city.) I am super excited for you…if nothing else, check in now and then with your experiences….if nothing else, that might be an interesting set of posts. The “Rabid View of the City” or something of that sort. 😀 YIPPEE!!!August 12, 2006 at 2:58 am #150546Jeff HesterKeymaster
Sami, sounds like a very cool move to me! I've always wanted to live in a city, even if only for a while. Everytime I go to a Padres game in downtown San Diego I eye the lofts down there… that would be sweet! And my mom lives right in the heart of Little Italy in San Francisco. I don't think I'd want to raise kids there, but it's a very cool place to live (or if they were older).
Don't worry about us here at BigBlueBall… we'll keep a light on for ya. 😉August 12, 2006 at 3:19 am #150552MrOatsMember
When my parents lived in Minnesota they loved the Mall Of America. One time I mentioned it and they couldn't stop talking about it! Doesn't it have a roller coaster inside? Definately -the works- for a shopping experience. You should check it out Sami! 😉
The BIG City huh? I remember my first visit to NYC, -very- exciting and fun! Hope you have a similar feeling, and a safe move too. =)August 12, 2006 at 6:29 am #150548RabidKittenParticipant
Well the MoA has a Knotts Camp Snoopy inside it…so it has a roller coaster, a log ride…all kinds of crazy stuff. It's fun to look over the edge because it's in the middle of the mall area. I've been there quite frequently since…well, it was the choice place to go for family crap and school trips when we were younger. Well, that and ValleyFair which is in a suburb of Minneapolis. So yeah *deep breath*
And I'm -not- one for shopping. Unless we're talking metaphysical stores where I can brush up on some of my studies while I'm at it, heheh. But that's more like shopping on Hennepin Street or Uptown. Believe me, my dear other half, Lexington/Steven moved up here 8 months ago and is now ‘catching me up' on the big city, heheh. And being that he's a shopping nutcase…I'm getting dragged around a lot of places, whether I like it or not. Apparently I'm not ‘enough of a girl', so my first paycheck is going to attire, whether I like it or not… *groan* Wish me luck, heh.
But yes, thank you all for the well wishes. Hopefully this will all go down smoothly, but I have a weekend to relax for over a month and a half…so yeah.August 12, 2006 at 9:02 am #150550sarahtownyMember
Oh sorry I am late in replying bit of a busy couple of days. Glad to hear your all ok and moving to the big city status! Hope it works out for you and you enjoy your new home! :0)August 14, 2006 at 10:44 pm #150549SpikeMember
Hope you enjoy the big city, Sami, I know I would. It's definately a change for you, I'm sure, so just keep in mind: Change takes some getting used to. I'm sure in no time you'll be enjoying yourself. Best wishes!
