All you gotta do is simply add THIS LINE to your WINDOWS HOST FILE:
127.0.0.1 ar.atwola.com
No more ads!!!!!! (Works for aim and icq) — I have this and it works fine!!!

I did remember seeing your post on the Windows hosting files thing. 🙂 After I have tried it out, the banners kept coming back for some reasons. I am sure the method works for many people. Here at BigBlueBall Forums, it’s always great that people are willing to share information/methods they have figured or found on the Internet. 🙂
August 4, 2004 at 11:10 pm #88685Jeff HesterKeymasterHmmmmmmmmm,i dunno why they do brian!!!!
This makes it IMPOSSIBLE for the ads to be loaded,as your computer looks @ 127.0.0.1,see’s nothiong and thus LOADS NOTHING
August 4, 2004 at 11:24 pm #88699shifterMemberYes, but that will only load nothing for ads being served from ar.atwola.com, if Brians ICQ is using a different ad server, then blocking ar.atwola.com is pointless. I don’t know how ICQ’s banner ads work or where they come from, but I imagine they might use more than one server for serving the ads.
August 4, 2004 at 11:53 pm #88688detn8rParticipantSo there’s no way to terminate the advert in the conversation window?
August 4, 2004 at 11:55 pm #88686Jeff HesterKeymasterYou may be right shifter,
But I think rather he may be getting ads from something else on his computer rather than ICQ……….I dont get any ads,and havent since blocking atwola.com (And dont want any either)……..
Do you have other things running brian????? (paltalk, etc…….)
