As you probably read on BigBlueBall last week, the iPad 2 went on sale last night. The early figures say they sold about a million units, compared to 300,000 on the first day the first generation iPad went on sale (less than a year ago).
So who got one? Who wants one?
I’m planning to get one, and already have a buyer for my original iPad.
The one thing I’m most excited about? The new personal hotspot feature in iOS 4.3 — which means I won’t need to pay extra for a 3G iPad (or the monthly fees). Nice.

The personal hotspot only works if you already have the tethering plan for your iPhone (which I don’t). So, I’d still be getting a 3G which is still kinda pricey.
I hope to get one later when the mad rush is over – perhaps in a few months if I’m lucky! Let us know how it goes when you get yours!!

I did an analysis of my data usage, and I never went over the 20 GB cap on the metered plan. Frankly, the overage charges are reasonable, but I’m monitoring it and so far, don’t expect to go over ever.
Of course, if I used it as my only Internet connection (does anyone do that?) that would be a different matter entirely. But most of my big downloads and streaming I do on my cable Internet connection. When I’m at home, I use wifi rather than 3G.
The personal hotspot rocks!
