I have acquired another toolbar that I didn’t ask for 🙁
the only thing I have installed lately is SP2
I have clicked on the toolbar and used the disable option but I would like to wipe it from my machine without messing anything else up!
It also put these shortcuts on my desktop…

I always recommend Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D (you can find them on google pretty quickly), they should be able to wipe out whatever it might be
September 5, 2004 at 6:14 pm #38677DrGrafenbergMemberok I think it is “searchtheweb” I have already tried all the obvious anti spyware stuff but its still there 🙁
September 5, 2004 at 6:58 pm #38678bronxyMemberI had that too, and I had to download a file to get rid of it, and it never came back since.
Ill upload the file to my site for a little bit. Lemme know when you get it.

I currently use “Tool Cop” to keep those sorts of tool bars away if the spyware does not fix it first.
September 6, 2004 at 9:10 am #38679DeadeyeMemberYes, the toolbar is websearch and its very annoying. I dont remember how I got rid of it but I have lavasoft ad aware and spybot search and destroy on my computer so its one of the two programs that removed it.
September 7, 2004 at 4:16 am #38680SpikeMemberI used to have that websearch toolbar. To delete it, start Windows in Safe Mode. (Hold F8 at startup) Then, run Norton Anti-Virus or similar. That should take care of it. Also, I deleted some random folders that sounded bogus on my hard drive. That should fix it. Oh, and btw, Ad-aware doesn’t pick this up, it’s very well disguised.
