MemberAs Windaphoner pointed out, MSN Messenger 5.0 is out. But some of the features, including the parental controls and the co-browsing, are only available to subscribers.
Have any subscribers out there checked out these two new features? Any comments?
The parental controls sound cool, in an authoritarian, Orwellian sort of way. I understand that mom and dad can get an email log of the time you spent on Messenger (dates, times, and who-knows-what else). But then, you’re probably not saying anything that would make mom blush, are you?
The part I’m interested in is the co-browsing. This docks your chat window to the side of the screen and lets you and your friend surf together. You see the same screens, and either one of you can take over and point-and-click your way to the next site. That seems like a cool way to share the experience… “hey…check THIS out…” But does it work as well as it sounds?

ParticipantYou need MSN 8 to use the browsing feature – And I’m 96% sure the service is only availble to the US n’ Canada.

MemberThere are three subscription options available (at least here in the U.S.): You can get broadband Internet access in select areas, dial-up access, or a “software-only” subscription. Previously, MSN Explorer was available as a software-only download for free, but now they charge $9.95/month.
You can find out more about the services at http://join.msn.com/
